An Introduction

June 2019 Dear Friends, The Sheridan area has much to offer from a growing trails system to a bustling downtown association. All of this is possible due to the seemingly endless public support and involvement that characterizes our community. In order to continue to see our community thrive, opportunities for educational advancement and improvement of community spaces are necessary. Edward A. Whitney had this in mind when he willed his estate to create Whitney Benefits, established in 1927. As the newest member of the team at Whitney Benefits, I am excited to play a small part in the improvement of our community which will impact not only this generation but those to come. When we invest in our community, opportunities arise that would never have been available without the support of those around us. I moved to the Sheridan community only three years ago and I immediately found myself in awe of the close-knit community support that exists here. Through my involvement in Sheridan KidsLife, Sheridan Junior High School Cross County, Sheridan Memorial Hospital, Storm Soccer, and other local organizations, I have met countless individuals who are committed to the betterment of our community. This spirit of generosity, volunteerism, and community involvement is not only a hallmark of our community but is one that I have seen present in you, our Whitney Scholars. In familiarizing myself with the Whitney Scholars program, I have read through many of the letters sent from you, our talented alumni, which express overwhelming gratitude for the opportunities an interest-free Whitney Loan provided. I feel grateful to interact with each one of you and look forward to what we can accomplish together in the future. Our hope is to continue to grow the Whitney Scholars program in recognizing the great accomplishments of our alumni and to continue to cultivate a spirit of giving within our community. As Whitney Scholars, you know how much of an impact a small donation can have in opening doors for countless opportunities. Thank you for all you are doing for our community and for the opportunity to partner with you in your work. With warmest regards, Sarah Sommers Assistant, Whitney Benefits
