President’s Message

Dear Friends, Spring is a time of new beginnings and nothing can provide a new beginning quite like education. Whether it is completing a degree or taking a class to specialize in a specific topic, education opens doors and allows for endless opportunities. With the importance of education in mind, supporting local educational opportunities is vital to maintaining a healthy and growing community. Whitney has had the opportunity to support education at Sheridan College and is excited to see the continued growth in years to come. Supporting the Health Science expansion in cooperation with the Bryan and Perkins foundations has recently been a top priority. With the expanded facility, the nursing, dental hygiene, and CNA programs at Sheridan College provide excellent opportunities for educational growth and thus career advancement within our community. There are several exciting new opportunities that are coming to our area in education. Evening and online classes are now available at Sheridan College to accommodate nontraditional students through the new EveningPlus+ Program. Sheridan College has recently received authorization to offer a 4-year Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Management and Leadership. An associate degree in software development at Sheridan College in partnership with other local community colleges and the University of Wyoming is also in development and is planned to be offered beginning Fall 2022. Sheridan College continues to strengthen their partnerships with local high schools to offer vocational and academic classes to high school students through their Concurrent and Dual Enrollment Programs. If you are exploring further your own education, remember that Whitney has interest-free student loans available for vocational and academic students in all areas of study. If you are seeking to advance your own educational opportunities, I invite you to apply for a student loan of up to $24,000 for undergraduate or $40,000 for graduate studies. Do not let a lack of financial support prevent you from developing future opportunities for yourself and your family. To maintain a vibrant community, I encourage you to join me and Whitney Benefits in supporting local educational endeavors. Whether that means serving on many of the local boards that serve educational nonprofits or financially supporting scholarships or Sheridan College, I ask you to take action to make sure opportunities for growth remain available in our community. Warmest Regards, Roy Garber Whitney Benefits Board President
