Typically, the fall is a time of return to routine and the commencement of regularly scheduled activities. Students across our
community have returned to class, fall sports are in full swing, and schedules are quickly filling up. As fall ushers in many
new beginnings, the Whitney Board would like to recognize the end of an era in our office.
After twenty-two years of dedicated service, Whitney Benefits Executive Director Patrick Henderson has retired. While this
may seem sudden, Patrick wished to take an early retirement for unforeseen medical reasons. Patrick has served the
Whitney Board and our greater community with a passion and record of
success that has not gone unnoticed. Under Patrick’s leadership,
Whitney has expanded and regularly pivoted to meet the ever changing
needs of our community. It would be impossible to list all of his
contributions to Whitney and our community, but a few highlights of
Patrick’s impact over the past two decades include:
The extension of the Whitney interest-free student loan program to
include students in Johnson County.
Expansion and construction at Sheridan College including the
Career & Technology programs and the Allied Health Project.
Facilitation of cooperation between the University of Wyoming and
Sheridan College to create multiple endowed positions including
those in Agriculture and Allied Health.
Countless partnerships for community benefit including the creation
of trail ways, the construction of Whitney Commons, the Whitney Ice
Rink, and the gift of water for green spaces and parks across the
City of Sheridan.
On behalf of the Whitney Board, I would like to extend our most sincere gratitude and recognize the accomplishments to
which Patrick has pushed the Foundation to achieve. We are confident Edward A. Whitney would be proud of all that has
been achieved and the people that have been served. Please join us in keeping Patrick and his family in our thoughts and
prayers as they navigate this new season.
In Patrick’s words, the beat goes on. Whitney will continue to serve the community, furthering the legacy of Edward A.
Whitney. The Whitney Board has initiated the process of filling the Executive Director position and understands finding the
right person to lead the foundation forward is not to be done hastily. In the meantime, the Whitney staff will continue to fulfill
Edward A. Whitney’s mission in their daily duties with oversight by the Board of Trustees.
I look forward to updating you in the future on the selection of a new Executive Director as the process moves forward. We
are ever grateful for the unending support of the community.
With Whitney Regards,
Whitney Benefits Board President
