Executive Director’s Message

November 15, 2019 Dear Whitney Scholars and friends, The snowfall and cooler temperatures these past few weeks have been disappointing to those of us who were wishing for a longer fall, yet they remind me that it is time to start preparing for the holiday season. As we usher in the holidays, we can often get lost in the hustle and bustle of the season. I urge you to take time before the holidays begin to let this be a time not just of celebrating but also of giving back. Our community offers many opportunities for community involvement and engagement during the holiday season. Numerous local events hold collections for local non-profits and there are countless other fundraisers to help those in need at local workplaces and businesses throughout the community. Think about choosing to shop locally during the Christmas stroll, visit one of many local holiday bazaars, or choose gifts through Bought Beautifully to have an impact around the globe. The success of these many opportunities to give show the generosity and kindheartedness that exists throughout our community. I applaud you for your part in this local culture of giving and ask you to continue supporting local efforts for community betterment. At one point or another we have all needed a hand and I hope we can pay it forward by lending that hand to others when we have the opportunity. Keep this in mind as you celebrate – I wish you the happiest of Holidays. With Whitney regards, Patrick Henderson Whitney Benefits Executive Director
