Dear friends,
I am not well versed in a lot of things in life. I think that my personal areas of knowledge revolve pretty much around faith,
family, friends, football, and food. I do know that a common constant in these areas and in my life is our beautiful
community and those wonderful people who are part of it.
I would like to focus on the “friends” area which include you as a Whitney Scholars. I see a bevy of our Whitney Scholars
friends each year whether at the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, or at Sheridan College touring their own young college students.
This particular year, we also saw many friends at the commemoration of events of the 100 years since Mr. Whitney's death.
This fall, Whitney Benefits partnered with the community, WYO Theater, Sheridan College, and the Sheridan College
Foundation to celebrate many events. We enjoyed fall activities with the Whitney Days at Sheridan College Campus and
Whitney hosted a re-dedication of the renovated North Wing of the WYO Performing Arts & Education Center. Later in
November, Whitney celebrated at the Whitney Center for the Arts to enjoy the celebration of Mr. Whitney’s life with the
culmination of the performance by the Whitney Center Jazz Orchestra. Then, we enjoyed seeing many of our friends at the
downtown Christmas Stoll. At the first of this month, we enjoyed the spectacular Nutcracker Ballet performed at Sheridan
College. What a great place to live, work, or to attend college! What a great setting in which to walk down memory lane,
connect with friends and for us to renew our commitment to this great community and area.
Many of our Whitney Scholars tell me how they enjoy coming back to town or to see the growing Sheridan College campus.
They tell me of that special feeling that they have remembering the many experiences of their college years or their life in
the Sheridan area. They so enjoy connecting with friends and peers who mentored them and they talk of their experiences
that shaped what they have become. It seems that they each have cherished memories. I don’t remember specific details
about every conversation, but I vividly remember the laughter and I remember how they hold Sheridan in their hearts.
I thank you for your continuing support of Whitney Benefits. With your support, Whitney can continue to be a force for
education and community. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a blessed 2018.
With Whitney regards,
Patrick Henderson
