Director’s Message
August 2021
Dear Friends,
As summer comes to a close, I want to take a chance to look back at the many opportunities we have had over the past
several months to enjoy our vibrant community. Whitney Commons has had the privilege to host countless events including
recreational events, weddings, parades, fundraisers, camps, and worship services to name a few. While some events held
in Whitney Commons are private, the public events have
been well attended and it has been wonderful to see our
community come together, especially for worthy causes. As
you continue to enjoy the park, please know that we are
beginning the process of building a new maintenance
building. Please be patient with any inconvenience this will
cause as our ultimate goal through this update is to better
serve our community. In the Whitney Plaza, building is also
occurring as developers work to beautify our community
and meet local housing needs. As work in the plaza
progresses, this area will continue to contribute to the
thriving Sheridan downtown scene.
As we look to the fall, Whitney continues to review and
approve applications for student loans. We want to remind
our community that an investment in education is a worthy
investment and can pay dividends in the future. Whitney Benefits interest-free loans provide up to $24,000 for
undergraduate studies and $40,000 for graduate studies. Vocational loans are also available. Students can qualify for a
loan by graduating from high school in Sheridan or Johnson County or through proving residence in Sheridan or Johnson
County. Whitney also continues to support Sheridan College this fall as they progress with the Allied Health Building
expansion.
As the days start to shorten, we hope you take time to enjoy the cooler weather. Whitney Benefits will continue to work on
Mr. Whitney’s intent to give back to the community and we invite you to join us in this attitude this coming fall.
With Whitney Regards,
Patrick Henderson
